  1. You guys are AMAZING! My husband and I found you (not sure how) but have been listening faithfully for the last 8 or 9 months. Thanks for sacrificing your time to enlighten all of us – we REALLY appreciate it!

    1. Author

Judy thanks for sharing your time with us. Your time is valuable, so we work to provide something worthy of your time in these.

  2. Wish I found this site long time ago! It is so helpful and enlightening! This site is my go to whenever discussion can be challenging.

    Million thanks!

  3. I wish we as a collective Church membership understood the Old Testament better, especially Isaiah as Jesus urged. There is so much in those books that sets the stage and gives context to where the world is now in the timeline from Creation and Fall to the 2nd Coming and Millenium.

When I was on my mission in the late 1990s, we were “required” to read the entire standard works, except for the Old Testament. I went ahead and read it anyhow, and it helped a ton with teaching and explaining things to people about everything from patriarchal blessings to why the Sabbath is so important.

  4. I’m really looking forward to studying. The Old Testament next year, as I have never read it in full. I was planning on on using the institute manuals to aid my study, but I came across this article by Ben Spackman that’s giving me pause: https://benspackman.com/2021/12/the-1980-old-testament-institute-manual-why-you-should-ignore-it-for-teaching-genesis/

I don’t just want to study the Old Testament from a spiritual perspective, but an academic one as well. Are Ben’s concerns valid?
I notice that neither the institute manuals nor the coming CFM manual cover Chronicles, but I’d like to read the ENTIRE OT since I’ve never done it before and I’m familiar with the Deuteronomist issue, so I’d prefer something that could walk me through those books.

I’ve already picked up The Lost World of Genesis One and Who Wrote the Bible, and I’m planning on getting Butler’s and Barnes’ books from P&PP. My intention is to read those preparatory to starting the OT, but I’d like something to also guide me through my study of the OT through the year. Are there other manuals or books you would recommend? Of course, I will also be following this podcast through the year.

Thanks for what both of you do.

  5. I have been inspired by you to learn how to read hebrew. I want to read the old testament in hebrew. I have looked online but I am not sure which hebrew bible is the best to use. Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you so much for all that you do and your teachings. They have been a catalyst to strengthening my relationship with Jesus Christ.

      Luke,
      I sent you an email.
