00:26 – The historical background and an overview of the book of Jonah.

05:00 – Jonah’s struggle shows the battle we all have with the “natural man” inside us. God’s commandments are calculated to bring us great happiness.

21:34 – Jonah’s descent and ascent is a perfect type of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

30:12 – Jonah is offended that God showed mercy to his enemies. We can learn from this and have gratitude for God’s power of forgiveness.

35:24 – Heavenly Father has paternal care and regard for his children.

38:03 – An overview of the book of Micah.

39:31 – Isaiah and Micah both speak of the mountain of the house of the Lord being established in the top of the mountains.

44:14 – Micah speaks of the sheaves being gathered into the floor. This passage is quoted by Jesus in 3 Nephi. The biblical threshing floor was the foundation of the Holy of Holies.

50:50 – There are significant prophecies about the birth of the Messiah and of his Second Coming in Micah. The remnant of Jacob shall be as a lion among sheep (Micah 5.8). This passage is quoted several times in the Book of Mormon.

  1. Love the opening section on forgiveness and the natural man. Made me think of the book “Unbroken”. WW2 story of a POW and how he learned to forgive those who beat him day after day.
Great podcasts, keep up the good work.

      Thanks for listening Mark!

  2. Good afternoon,
First off there are recordings of sailers being swallowed by the whales that they were hunting. There is at least one instance of the swallowed sailor being rescued by his shipmates who later killed the whale and found him alive when they cut up the whale to render the fat.

Second, the greater sin remains with him who fails to forgive. I have struggled with this concept and came to the realization that when we accepted Heavenly Father’s plan for our salvation, we coveneted to forgive one another. Failure to do so is rejecting his plan and that leaves us with satin!
