Timestamps:

00:43 – Moses 7 reveals the true character of God. He is an eternal being who weeps for his children.

09:17 – Moses 7.38 – “a prison have I prepared for them.” There is an exit from hell as explained in D&C 19.

15:04 – Terryl and Fiona Givens share their view on “The God Who Weeps.”

22:31 – The teaching that “The Son of Man” will come down to earth, be lifted upon the cross, resurrected, and take up the saints to be crowned (Moses 7.53-56) is rejected by those that edited the Old Testament. Enoch, Lehi, and Nephi teach the message of the Messiah.

27:57 – Enoch literature is apocalyptic and was shunned by the Christians of the 4th century AD, which caused it to be rejected from the Christian canon.

31:07 – Enoch literature is a backdrop to many ideas in the Bible regarding the origin of evil.

49:12 – There is great wickedness upon the earth.

57:43 – Defining what Zion means. Enoch and his people established Zion and were taken up to God.

1:06:28 – In the last days, we are to gather again into a holy city called Zion and the city of Enoch will return.

  1. Do you mind listing the scriptures again where the Book of Mormon sites how they saw God from the brass plates record. I couldn’t find it in the Show notes.

Thanks so much I love your Podcast and recommend it to all

    1. I also came to the show notes to look for that. Just commenting for emphasis.

  2. I am so very grateful for y’all’s sacrifice of time and sharing of the collective knowledge and insight -it meets a deep need of mine.

I do have one concern which has been worrying me on occasion while listening: y’all reinforce an unspoken, degrading, toxic message which the Church is trying to correct: that Youth are less capable of great deeds, great Spirituality, and great effect on the world. I know y’all abhor that message. On the contrary, y’all are deliberate in building up the individual and shining a light on the great store of power in each human.

The specific is this: Periodically in podcasts, y’all pause and focus on the young age Joseph was when he received, translated, wrote, or did any deed. This automatically reinforces the counter message that Youth are expected to not have these qualities.

I understand your actual stated message: that it is near impossible for a person who did not have the benefit of years of study and access to libraries of scholastic learning to have produced such Works. I am not requesting that y’all remove that message -it would be counterproductive to spend precious time striving to censure your lessons to address every listeners’ concerns. I just want to provide info of an unsaid message in case it may get of benefit.

Rusty, thanks for the feedback. We certainly do not want any of our youth to ever think that they cannot access the powers of heaven. To the contrary, the Lord and his spirit are available to all. Thanks for listening and for your evaluation of this work.

  3. Go to the PDF podcast notes, second page. I loved that point also.
